Prozac 20mg day 14 extreme agitation/anxiety

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi guys,

I don't know if this is 'normal' or not, but I honestly feel so awful I want to curl up and die. I have the most awful feeling inside my body, like an inner agitation that I cannot relieve. It's unbearable. I don't know what to do. Diazepam doesn't even relieve it.

I know exactly what you are going thrui tried to explain it to my psychiatrist & she knew what i was referring toshe had a name for it but I forgot it I had it for a while then it calmed down & eventually went away My doctor gave me xanax (alprazolam) 0.5 mgs It helped immensely until it went away.

I know what you are going thruI thought I was losing my mind & never going to get better BUT i did! And you will too!

Thanks Barbara, I think it's called akathisia, which is extreme subjective restlessness. It makes you feel like running around screaming. I'm very glad to hear it went away. I'm using diazepam daily right now, and even though the doctor told me not to worry about that, I AM worrying.

    Hi Lucy,

When did this start? Explain the feeling you get? Is fear, dread etc? I am certainly feeling worse as the days go on...I too want to curl up and die!! I just cant do anything..no motivation and this nausea is terrible. This is 24/7 feeling awful...day 17 now!! K xx

I'm with you Katie, 24/7 feeling awful. I don't have the nausea, that must be horrible, but I do have constant dread/fear/doom and this horrid agitation. Also if I try to exert myself/go to the shops or whatever, I end up feeling even worse. Hate all this. Just want to be normal and well. Anyway, thinking of you and hoping today is marginally better x

it is very comforting coming on this forum to know that others are going through the same things. it seems as if the side effects are quite strong for so many… I was on Prozac for five years and went off of it. I recently went back on to 20 mg and my body is having a harder time adjusting. I cannot help think it’s because the generic brand is different. I think the advice of taking Xanax is good advice. however I know I’m too afraid of taking it while at work. So I breathe through it, make sure I have enough protein in my body and squirt a little bit of CBD oil under my tongue. I also say to myself, “these feelings are only the medicine it will go away. “Good luck XO

Oh really? What side effects did you have when switching to Lexapro? Cant be worse than what i feel now!

    Hello,

i have had exactly what you described. its most likely your body not agreeing to the meds or adjusting to them. Not all scripts work the same for everyone.

In my case i had to ride it out and switch to Lexapro. took like 3 days to feel tolerable then each day I was better and finally back to "normal."
