I was on Prozac and it made me itch and my vision was a Lil blurry.. It takes awhile to get in your system. 4-6 weeks. But I hated Prozac so I'm on lexapro now. I take probiotics for my IBS.. Anxiety makes IBS symptoms much worse.. 😕

Do you have IBS with diarrhea or IBS with constipation? If you have IBS with diarrhea, Prozac is going to make it worse, not better unfortunately. Prozac will actually trigger diarrhea episodes, which is why I'm asking. I have IBS with diarrhea and take Elavil, which has been very helpful. Itching from Prozac is very, very common. If it's keeping you awake at night, you should talk to your doctor as some people have strong itching from it, and they end up developing hives. Be careful with the Prozac as it can make you very, very depressed, even if you don't already suffer from depression.

Prozac is a slow starter type of medication. Within 2 weeks of your first dose, you should start to feel something. But most people don't feel any help with their IBS from Prozac for at least 6-8 weeks after they start taking it. My mother took Prozac for IBS, thought it didn't work twice, and her doctor told her to stick with it, after week 10 she was having a lot of success with Prozac and her IBS.

Whether you stick with it or not is something that only you and your doctor can decide. Itching is very common with Prozac, but a headache from it is considered rare. It may not be the right medicine for you if it's giving you those side effects on a daily basis.

I have IBS with constipation. My doctor prescribed Senna which worked the first time. Fybogel makes me feel worse and gives me smelly flatulence, cramps and pain.  I am also omeprazole one daily for indigestion and reflux. Any suggestions or help anybody can give me.
