Prozac insomnia, day 12 could use encouragement or advice

I've been on prozac for about 12 days now, and i haven't been able to get any decent sleep. I didn't sleep great before the prozac, possibly due to being on walbutrin, but now I'm barely functional in the day.

the prozac has been working miracles on my depression and has already started easing my anxiety a little. I've been struggling with my mental health since 7th grade (I'm 20 now) and with prozac I've felt more like myself then i have in a very long time. i really don't want to stop taking it, but I'm going back to college in a few weeks and i need to be able to sleep and function.

i take melatonin (2mg, just upped to 3) and I've stopped drinking caffeine after 12 pm. my issue is that i fall asleep, but I wake up a lot and I don't think I'm getting sound sleep when I am sleeping. i tried zzzquil a few days ago, and i slept better and felt better the next day, but I don't think you're supposed to take zzzquil continuously.

My psychiatrist cut my walbutrin in half, and it helped a little. before that I wasn't sleeping at all. But the insomnia is still leaving me barely functioning.

i take my meds between 11 am and 12 pm. is this maybe too late in the day?

has anyone else with this issue had it get better over time? How long did it take?

any advice and encouragement is welcome. Thanks!

I had the exact same problem with I started taking my medicine. I was exhausted so I had no problem falling asleep but I would wake up all the time and could not go back to sleep, or I had the strangest dreams and did not rest. My primary care doc told me to take half a benedryl for a few nights in a row when I got super exhausted so I could rest. I would tend to do this on fri and sat when I knew I could sleep in. I am going on a year and have no problems sleeping now. I think it lasted 4 months or so. Hang in there! It gets better and for me it was worth the wait!
