When increasing from 20 to 40mg per day, should I take 40 mg at once or two 20 mg doses different times durin the day? And will increasing help much? I've been on 20 mg for years and not doing much now

I would like to know this too, I've been on it for 6 weeks and should have increased but I was scared, I think I need to increase but don't want the nasty side effects to return sad

When I've increased. Dose from 20 mg 40mg I have taken them at once, I now take 60mg and feeling a lot better, the only side effect I've had has been anxiety for a short period for which my Dr gave me diazepan . I also take pregablin which has made a huge difference to my anxiety

What do the pharmacist's instructions say on the box?

It is usual to take the whole 40 mg in one go, at the same time you used to take the 20 mg.

If you're confused by this, ring the surgery, tell the receptionist, and she will ask the doctor and call you back to clarify the situation.

Sorry - I missed the second part of your post. Yes, it is highly likely that increasing will help, but give the new dose a good six weeks to kick in.
