After that we did a transrectal biopsy echo guided and the result shows no cancer. The doctor is confused and he gave him antibiotic and to redo the psa test after 6 weeks .is that good for now? HE SHOULD OF HAD A 3T MUTI-PARAMETRIC MRI before the biopsy. Then use this MRI along with a biopsy.

I would also recommend a Axumin PET Scan, this will see if any prostate cancer cells have spread to any other parts of the body

Davey is correct. He should have a 3T MRI which should be used in conjunction with an ultrasound to guide the biopsy to those areas wheee cancer is believed to be. I had such a MRI and the biopsy needles targeted the suspicious areas. If a biopsy is not guided by the MRI and infrasound then the urologist is NOT targeting the suspected areas.

i suggest you find another urologist who ideally automatically recommend such a MRI and biopsy. I also suggest a transperennial biopsy and not the usual trans rectal biopsy as the former has a. U have lower risk of infection.

as for a scan, Davey mentions an Axium PET scan. I can also suggest a PSMA PET CT scan whi I have had a few and are very reliable in identifying the cancer.

Previous comments suggested a few options.

For myself I am in the process of a PET Scan with axumen in 2 weeks. Tuesdays scan was cancelled because of the hurricane.

      Richard,

Could you let me know the results. I'll probably need a Axumin PET scan after I get a 3T multi-parametric MRI followed by a biopsy.

I had HIFU treatment 2 1/2 years ago. The whole gland was treated but, I believe some must have been missed. My PSA is starting to rise. It's now at 5.3.
