PSA pain in foot/ankle/lower leg.... could use advice and tips

Hey, everyone! I'm new to the forum so be easy on me, please
I was recently diagnosed with PSA and I was super surprised! I knew I was in pain but had previously been told that it was Fibromyalgia.
I have daily aches and pains of course but the worse pain is in my right food. The pain is predominately in my ankle and then wraps around to under my foot and shots into my big toe. I thought it was a running injury at first but the dr confirmed it to be arthritis. Initially, she gave me a shot to get rid of the pain but, the shot HURT so bad that I haven't been back since! I use herbs to help with the pain and it does take the edge off but it's not 100%.
I stand a lot and move a lot during the day so I'm looking for options to help reduce the pain, shoe-wise...ya know? I was thinking padded slippers but wondering if there is a better option. I need more cushion under my feet.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Catherine if you go online there are many options for specialist inner soles suitable for psoriatic arthritis . They all help but if it’s psoriatic arthritis you have you need proper treatment ASAP .
Something like Metahtrxate is usually used ,and should knock your disease into remission quickly in you act fast . PA will spread to other joints very quickly if it’s not treated properly .
Good luck and don’t be concerned the prognosis for pa in this day and age is very positive 👍

Hi Catherine, my advice would be footwear with memory foam based insoles that give you lots of cushioning. Some brands do them as standard, I pretty much live in trainers as they're the most comfortable and flexible around and under the foot, but you can get some in more of a shoe style. The hospital supplied me with a flat, leather insole with an egg-shaped lump that went under the ball of the foot when my first toe went, but I couldn't even get my foot in the shoe with it in, let alone wear it all day haha.
I get what you're saying about the pain killing injection too, those things are not pleasant.
But now they know what you've got they can target you medication accordingly. A lot of people try the natural therapy route first, but the only thing that helped me in that respect was cooling gel.
Hope you get some relief, Ruth

Hi Catherine,
It might be worth seeing a podiatrist and looking into orthotics. That's what I'm having to do now too for my ankles- do you roll in? I do, which isn't related to the arthritis but the arthritis has definitely made it worse! As far as shoes, I bought a pair of asics gel-nimbus 18 because they have a lot of stability and heel cushioning (heel pain is a huge one for me) but there is loads of info online to tailor to your specific pain! Can Inask, was your shot a steroid injection? Its looking likely that I will need one too.

Clark's memory foam and Vionic Sandals!
I can't walk in anything else! I'm yet to find a good sneaker though.
Good luck Catherine and let me know if you find the magic shoe. My pain is isolated mostly in the feet and ankles as well.
