It was that time of the year. Had a PSA done last year in June. It was 4.0. I had my new one done this Monday. It was 0.7. Urologist told me that it was very good for my age. 61 So I am fine for another year. Most of the insurance will pay for it. I have wellcare and that is madicare After 50 they will pay for 1 PSA a year. Have a good day guys Ken.

Yes that can be true. That is why I made sure there was no sex of anykind for a least 2 days. It can cause a false reading. My urologist said I'm good to go. I will have a scope done in september to check everything so I'm he told me not to worry. I had a uro-life done in April of 2015 he's going to check the implants and I also have a stricture. My urologist has never dome a rectal exam. I'm going to ask him why. Been with him for 3 years. My regular doctor has.. Take care Ken

Between June of 2015 and now, did you initiate 5 alpha reductase therapy? That would be Proscar (finasteride) or Avodart (dutasteride)? If so, it would account for such a precipitous drop from 4.0, down to 0.7. Actually, using one of these drugs should bring it down to 2.0, if all other things remain the same. Your recent score is an outlier of sorts. You may want to ask your urologist to retest. Best.
