Stick with gabapentin, it takes a while to get into your system and you eventually need to have the dose increased till you get maximum effect. It makes you feel a bit spaced out to begin with but wears off as your body gets used to it.

I have been taking it for over a year now. My experience is that it works if I take the right dose but is not so effective if I cut it down - the only adverse effect is that I have gained weight but I'd rather have the weight than the pain - and I don't rattle, at least no-one;s told me that, ha!

Hi Jayive - thanks so much that is very helpful.

Only thing people have told me lately is that I am not my usual bubbly self, read, now miserable C*W lol.

      Thanks again x

Give them your pain and then they won't be quite as bubbly either. It's only people who have real pain who can understand what it feels like.

I know all about bed being the most comfortable place.  For many years I did all my computer work horizontal with a cushion on the tum, thank goodness for lap tops.  Gabapentin (is that what you have been prescribed) is a wonder drug, if it works for you.  It has given me a life back, well half a life but that's a lot better than no life, laying in bed in agony all the time.  I hope it does the same for you.

    Kind regards and good luck.

Thanks Thomas - I know, our bed is 2200 spring and memory foam... me and the cat jump on in at soon as I am home from work.. then the husband wonders where we are! lol.  I am optimistic in this drug, yes it is Gabapentin I have, but also happy that Dr now recognised what it is in line with other issues and I am treated seriously.  Sadly the nice Dr yesterday I met is leaving but has given me advise on increasing the dose if I need to.  I had really bad pain 3 years ago with my PsA in feet and this nerve pains doesn't compare... I also think I have high pain threshold but then I think what it is, as my job is all about caring for people and their emotions (HR!) I leave myself til last!  Fool to myself I know and learn the hard way! :-) x
