Yeah, sure do have Arual, I get muscle spasms and cramps all the time, I'm a chronic asthma sufferer too-it's bronchial, so my cough is shocking...scares people...I get looks, "like I'll catch it...she should be home..mmm I go on the machine 2 a day and take all sorts of puffers and meds, but that pollen is a shocker..lol.., when I have an episode...it's usually a month....when I'm out n about, ' I have to say to people: it's ok, it's only Asthma..it's not catchy...but yes very very sore chest muscles when I have it...but I can always see people around the world a lot worse off...makes me very grateful no matter what pain we get,  I live in a 3rd world country, hope your soreness goes away soon. Hope you have a painless 2015..be blessed..:-) xxx

I used to sing with a community choir but it became too painful to sing as taking deep breaths hurt too much.  It often feels like a vice around my ribcage.  I know the importance of deeper breathing and do try to remember to do some breathing exercises every now and then.  I think it's the intercostal muscles that the pain stems from, they are the ones inbetween the ribs so it would be likely that these are the ones that are causing you such pain.

I remember needing to go to A and E one time as I had such excruciating pain which became extra sharp when I took a breath inwards.  At first they thought I had a collapsed lung but the x-rays revealed that this was not so.  They told me that I had strained the intercostal muscles and my sats were low as I was avoiding deep breaths due to the pain.  It was dreadful at the time but recovered fully.  It was a frightening experience.

I do hope that you're feeling better soon.  It is wise to get checked out as there are lots of chest infections around at the moment.  A friend of mine is getting over pleuracy, an inflammation of the pleura (around the lungs).  This is a very painful condition also.  Any chest pain should be investigated to rule out the more serious conditions.

    Take care, Pink smile
