Pulling the skin from within
Posted , 7 users are following.
Hello! I had the surgery done 50 weeks ago and I want to discuss one symptom that hasn't been mentionead at all as far as I've seen. It is from the scar itself. It feels like something is pulling the skin from within the palm. The skin is too tight in the palm. No matter what exercises I've done, no matter how much I rub or how much contact the palm gets with different fabrics etc, the tightness is still there. Question: will it always be like that? Do you feel the same?

sorry you are still suffering. I had my op. just after you and unless these blogs pop up in my mail box I forget I had it done. There is no tightness and the scar has disappeared into the other lines on my hand.
hope you find an answer
best wishes Elaine

Yes I know what your talking about, if I open or move my hand it feels like the skin under the scar is opening, this does also feel uncomfortable and on occasions hurt.
Still swells a lot I feel mine and your surgery may be a fail

A nerve block is where the put a needle with some pain meds I assume in it to try and help alleviate the pain in the nerve that leads to the hand, I believe this to be called the sympathetic nerve, I honestly do not know how it works either. I was able to move my fingers, it did not affect anything else as far as I know except for the eye. They put a freezing on the right side of my windpipe and then inserted a dental like needle with something in it in the nerve, it was totally awful. I had to lay back with head down and jaw dropped opened and you can not move or talk and you can not close your mouth....It makes the eye droop and almost feel like if you had got punched in the eye area, stays red for about four hours....also feel like you have a blob in your throat and beccome a little hoarse like you have a cold....they say it may take 2 or 3 times for this to actually work....well my thought process, it didn't work the 1st time, why go through that several times....i am hoping that once i start therapy, it will be better....
