Pulmonary embolism

Hi 2 weeks ago I had a massive bilateral PE. I have been put on rivaoxaban for life as this is my second PE. I am still having a very itch chest when walking or doing exercise. I am also getting dizzy spells and I am always tired. Could you tell me if this is normal 2 weeks after a PE? Thanks in advance

Not sure what an itch chest is. Do you mean tight chest (maybe auto correct messing with your typing?)

Anyway, all of those symptoms sound about right for 2 weeks post PE. Some may have less, some more. It all depends on the size and severity.  Don't over do it and listen to your body. It takes a while for things to settle down.

Hi there.. yes it is normal just shortly after having PE.. it will take longer to settle down again... when I had mine 2yrs ago, my consultant said that it would take 3/4 months for my lungs to recover, as they’ve had a tough time, and for the clots to break up ...  some people recover early then that. We are all diffrent, so take each day as it comes..

For ME ( and this is only me ) two years down the line and my breathing is no better and I’m strugling to walk with out discomfort in my chest, Iv been to my consultant again, and he’s said my heart is going to fast, wen I just walk around, and it was due to the clot going through my heart, and I’m just unlucky as my heart hadn’t recoved from this ... ( remember tho this is ME )

So Iv got to take a tablet to slow my heart down a bit and hopefully this will work...  I’m on apixaban for life since my PE as they not sure where it all started, and to be honest I’m glad, as just gives me some hope that it mite not happen again ... so please just take each day as it comes, and if you ever get to worried please go and get checked out for peace  of mind 🤗x
