I have Meniere's and of course constant tinnitus, but I also get what your describing. It's a pounding, pulsating like a heartbeat in my good ear, not the one with Meniere's. It is so strong I can actually physically feel it. My ENT doctor sent me for an MRI of my inner ear and, like everything else with this dreaded condition, they found nothing and have no solutions to help stop it. You are correct this is horrible at night time and makes it almost impossible to sleep. So I just take more Xanax and get about 4 hours of sleep. Sorry I have no suggestions to help but neither do any of the ENT doctors I've have a clue what would help. Good luck with this.

Chris,
I'm sorry that you are having this problem. I went though this years ago. Unfortunately, I had to have a chemical labyrinthectomy. I lost my hearing in that ear. There is still some activity going on. I take Niacin 100 mgs daily. It is the king with the flushing effect. It helps though he first couple of times it might cause dizziness.
Good luck,
Evdilos

I have the pulsing in my affected ear. It comes and goes for a variety of reasons that I can not identify. As others have said to me, low salt, no caffeine, no alcohol. I take Flonase and that seems to help. My very best to you. This disease is terrible.

thankyou everyone, its so frustrating and feels hopeless. i cant understand why the drs cant find a cure. i wouldnt wish thia on anyone. i had to take a sleeping pill and kept my hearing aid in to try to sleep. my ent suggested a cochlear implant but probably wont help either. CHRIS

yes i get that when i get a build up of pressure in the ears, I also go completely deaf. I'm starting tinnitus therapy tomorrow and cannot wait as the tinnitus is driving me insane. I've been watching the tv with subtitles now for 5 months and just want to get back to normal.

ask your doctor to prescribe 0.5mg of Ativan. This med calms the inner ear and in many cases reduces pulsatile tinnitus to a tolerable level. Good luck.

Do you know what I'm fed up with taking tablets now. I'm going to see if the therapy works.
