Pupil still dialated after cataract surgery, is this normal?

I just had cataract surgery two days ago and my pupil is still dilated. I am worried, as I have not read that this is a common side effect, and my vision is still blurry.

Have you seen your surgeon after the surgery? It is normal practice to do an exam one day after surgery. Blurry vision would be normal.

Yes, I saw my surgeon yesterday (the day after surgery) he didn't seem concerned at all... but he is a man of few words... doesn't say anything more than is necessary. I got concerned this morning, because as I was researching the common side effects of cataract surgery dilated pupils was not one of them.

Some people are more sensitive to the drops that cause the dilation. So it might take longer to wear off in that case. Give it a few more days.

I am at about 36 hours and still dilated. Dr said it can take a few days or more for some. Also my last eye took like 3 days if I remember correctly. I have read it can take up to a week in some people. I think you are ok at this point and have nothing to worry about.

Thank you for your reply! It is comforting to know that I probably will be okay.

It is slowly returning to normal I am hoping that yours is doing the same.
