PVST and Bisoprolol help

Hi Everyone,
I'm 18 years old and have been diagnosed with PVST after having it for about a year.
I have been prescribed Bisoprolol and have to take 2.5mg a day, however I am scared to start this medication after doing research and hearing how horrible it makes you feel and how difficult it actually is to come off this drug due to how bad it makes you feel and your condition can actually worsen if you come off the drug.
I know you are not supposed to stop this drug suddenly but I was wondering if I could test it for a week and then stop as my body won't be used to it yet?
Any advice, is it even worth taking because my Doctor said they "hope" it helps which doesn't sound like it will help and doesn't sound worth all the side affects and horrible feelings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Back in Feb 2016, I started having SVT out of the blue. \i was 61 years old.
\i was put on biso for it. I did not question my cardiologist.
Immediately I started to feel like a zombie, I felt like I had no energy and could not get off the soda. My heart rate and blood pressure was very low, and my hands and feet were like ice. I took the same dose for about 2 months and then dropped it by half because of this.
Then the end of June I was going to have an ablation and the EP specialist told me I needed to stop the biso 5 days prior to procedure. I asked if it was okay to just stop the biso. He answered ......it is just fine. So I did. But it was not just fine. I went into awful withdrawals. Terrible anxiety....mainly physical but some mental too.
Now at this time I did not make the connection with the biso withdrawal.......I know stupid eh?
I thought it was terrible anxiety and my gp put me on Clonezepam and Trazodone. Well that was a big mistake. I took it for about 1 1/2 years. |I then had to do a 10 month weaning, and am now at about 10 months post. Still having protracted withdrawal, but the windows and waves are starting to be on my side now.
If I had only known that the withdrawals from biso would have been like that, first I would had weaned off prior to procedure.....or never gone on them at all.
Stupid me for being so naive. I went through hell going through withdrawals from all 3 drugs

Thank you for the reply Lolasmom,
I just need to really weigh up the pros and cons of this medication before I jump into it, I'm only 18 and I don't want to be on this for the rest of my life so I may try other methods to help my situation out

I have had 3 attempted ablations.
The first he could not stimulate my heart, and thought that was because the benzo I was on
The second attempt, he could stimulate my heart, but through the EP study, found out that |I did not have AVNRT, but it was AT. |He needed a 3D nachine for the AT ablation but it was not set up that day
The third attempt was just last May. He was able to stimulate my heart. |But all of a sudden my blood pressure was 250/110. They gave ne something to lower it but did not work. \then they gave me nitro. \that lowered it yo 80/40. Then they gave me something in incrrease it.
Prior to the study, \I had a terrible time with the prep for it. |It took 4-5 attempts at a foley catheter. |It took 7 tries getting an arterior line into my wrist. \that was the most painful experience
I guess by time |I went into the cath lab, |I was a mess.
So went all this went on in the cath lab with my blood pressure, \i just finally told them that this party is over. I just could not go through any more.
I then had the usual 4 hours laying flat because of the catheter in my groin and collar bone.
I just could not wait to get out of there
My poor husband driving 45 minutes home while I was having a melt down..........

Hi mate. I can understand you fears over taking bisoprolol but you need to remember that usually on forums like this one you will mostly get the people with issues who will be airing their views or asking for advice. There are many more people who don't have issues or only have minor problems with bisoprolol. I personally did find it made me very tired and occasionally dizzy and am now reducing the dosage very very gradually. I know two other people local to me who have no problems at all with it and were surprised when I told them I was. if you go into it expecting a problem you are setting yourself up for a fall. Priorities first. If you need the drug then take it is my advice. But always with a view to coming off at some point as they will leave you on it forever if you don't question it at some point in the future. Good luck.

Cheers Gary,
I know what you're saying about the forums and how it'll mostly be people who had problems with Bisoprolol.
I might try other things before I start taking it because I don't want to go through the weaning process and the withdrawals if I do get any.
In my opinion I don't desperatly need the drug as my doctor sent me letter and in the letter they said they will prescribe me bisoprolol in the hopes it reduces the frequency of my palpitations, so by the sounds of it, it's like they are just throwing this pill at me without really knowing if it'll benefit me.
Thanks for the reply mate.
