PWB questions

I've been given the green light to stat PWB. I had ankle surgery 7 weeks ago. I was told to listen to my body and start it on my own before I start physio. Due to covid-19, my first physio appointment is in 10 days. Any tips on how to start PWB? How often can I increase the amount of weight that I put on my injured leg?

I'm at a similar stage to you, but was told I won't get any physio until 12 weeks post surgery, by which point I should be FWB in my moon boot.

My consultant said start with 10% weight and increase by 10% when I'm comfortable to do so, but to go back 10% if I suffer any pain. I asked how to guage 10% and he shrugged his shoulders!

Sorry this isn't much help, but look forward to hearing the advice you get.

The surgeon told me that he wants to see me FWB in regular shoes in 6 weeks. As far as instructions on how to start, I was told to do 25% on boot with two crutches, then progress to 50%, 75%, FWB with both crutches. Then, do the whole process with one crutch, and then go back to two crutches but wear regular shoes and go through the process again.

When I asked how do I know what's 25%, he said to use a scale and put 25% of my body weight on my injured leg. I tried, but my digital scale was not giving me accurate measurements. The other problem I ran into was not being balanced due to the height difference of the boot, so my hip and knee of my uninjured leg killed after two minutes of trying to do PWB. So, I ordered the Even Up Balancer, and it's supposed to be delivered today. I'm hoping that it will make life easier.

I'm also finding crutches difficult and wondering if I should rent or buy a walker. I mostly used my knee scooter during my NWB stage. I hope others with similar experiences will provide some advice.
