I also have left duplex system, I suggest going to your gp and asking for an Intravenous Urography, they inject you with dye and take a course of x rays as the dye works through your kidneys, the duplex kidneys themselves dont cause the problem but the Intravenous Urography showed that the i have two completey seperate left kidneys along with seperate tubes but they intertwine causing kidney reflux and my right kidney is enlarged and has a narrow tube as well which causes the chronic infections, It was only when my life was being seriously effected that they did this scan, as a result of waiting so long I am now allergic to all antibiotics, I also suggest taking cranberry extract tablets, they have really helped me and I havent had an infection in nearly a year. Sometimes its not the kidneys as my kidney function is perfect, its the tubes leading to your bladder that cause the problems.

Hi just an update 6 months in and I'm off sick again. Been sick nearly every day and i cant live without antibiotics. I've just had a ct and awaiting results. I do know now that I have one left kidney and this has 2 collecting systems. I don't think I can take much more. I feel week tired. I wish they had taken it out when I was little instead of doing a replant. I'm now 46 and I've already been diagnosed with ischaemia heart disease. I just want to enjoy life.
