QUADRICEPS TENDONITIS

Posted , 7 users are following.

I've just been diagnosed with quadriceps tendonitis.  I have had increasing pain and swelling in my knee, as well as pain in the front of my thigh.  I am three weeks post-op today and my hip is doing great! and I want to get on with the business of walking! but this is holding me back.  Anyone else have this and if so, do you have any suggestions for helping the condition get better?  Thanks in advance.  Janet

Yes, i did as well and was prescribed a prednisone pack. It helped a lot!

I wish I took it sooner. Good luck.

Deb, thank you for your post! I'm going for an MRI of my knee but going to ask the doctor for some prednisone.  Everything I have read says the cure is 4 weeks rest.  I'VE BEEN RESTING for four months!  Appreciate your time, thank you.  Janet

PROTECT YOUR TENDONS! Tendonitis means ther are little rips in the tendons. Do not do anything that is going to make those rips deeper. If waking hurts, don't walk. Your tendons are injured, they are not weak, they're injured. They need to heal.

Hi Jodi:  Thank you for your message.  It doesn't hurt to walk, except my kneecap and the area above my knee, where the quadriceps connects, is sore and swollen.  I've read the treatment is 4-6 weeks of rest.  I've already been resting since May when I fell, I'm so upset I cannot work on walking without the damn walker.  Instead I'm still got to baby my leg.  It feels like this ordeal is never going to end.
