Question - 2 weeks post op

Thank you all for posting on this site.  It has been so reassuring and helpful to hear from all of you.  I had a vaginal hysterectomy and rectocele and cystocele repair 10 days ago.  I am really sore still and was wondering if anyone had hemmeroids after the surgery.  I have been trying to walk each day and have not lifted anyting more than 3kg.

Hello tamara. Are you sure you have haemorrhoids or could it be the swelling following the rectocele repair?

I am not sure Matron. Maybe it is swelling. It would be nice if they gave you information on what to expect when you leave the hospital.  All I got were instructions not to lift anything.

Hi tamara. If you didn't have haemorrhoids before your operation I doubt you'll have them now so don't worry. Are you having your bowels opened ok? Rest with your feet up or spend more time in bed but take a very short walk every 60-75 minutes but only to the loo and back for instance. It's still very early days so I would expect swelling.

Hello Tamara I had rectocele and cystocele 12 days ago and am still sore in the rectum area i have found that being on my feet too much made it worse so i took matrons advice and had a duvet day over the weekend it made a big difference. It is still there but improving it was so sore last Friday but has improved its early days I'm sure things will improve

Thanks Karen.  I know women who have had hysterectomies but no one who has had this type of surgery.  I thought because I did not have an incision in my abdomen it would be a quick recovery. I guess I was not prepared

Hi, I had the exact same surgery as you on 5th Feb so now 3+ weeks post op. I had that same feeling of piles but when I had a look it was just swelling. Still feel a lot of pressure in my bottom area but the last few days I feel so much better. Have to say the problem with the bowels seems worse than hysterectomy side doesn't it?

I do find resting helps, as as soon as I'm on my feet for any length of time I can feel a lot of pressure. Are you still bleeding/discharge? I am which I'm hoping subsides this week as think that is making me sore 😬

Good luck with the rest of your recovery xxxxx

I am finding the same thing.  Any length of time on my feet and my bottom area aches. I am still having some bleeding but it seems to be getting better.

Good luck with your recovery too.  Hopefully it will be only better each day !
