Question about duloxetine (simbalta)

Hi everyone, im from Ukraine and im new to this forum, so i want to agologize in advance about any inconveniences! Here is the short story: im 21 year old paraplegic (after the car accident in 2010) guy with a chronic pharmacoresistant pain syndrome in my anus. I've tried everything: gabapentin, morphin pump directly into the spinal canal, every CIS medications (and a lot of a foreign ones) and nothing helped me with a pain even a bit. Only one thing helped slightly and im not even sure because i tried it only couple times, and it was Ketamine. Now my doctor is saying that i need to try duloxetine as it will be in Ukraine in a couple of weeks and its a very usefull new drug. But now when i've read so much problematic reviews, it seems that a lot of people suffered a great deal becase of this drug. And since in my case it may be even more horrific, because i cant tell whats happening in my body below the belly button. Now im starting to think that it may even worsen my conditions...so i dont know what quite to expect and maybe some of you may know something or some of your friends had the similar situations? (i know, that's hardly unlikely). Sorry for the bad english again)

    Hi Flyingcolors

I take duloxetine as an antidepressant. It hasn't done an awful lot for my depression but it has helped a lot with the physical symptoms of depression including unexplained pain in my joints and muscles. It did make me feel very nauseous for the first few days but apart from that it hasn't had any negative side effects. I did come off of it for a while (found coming off pretty easy too unlike some other antidepressants) and the pain returned so I've gone back on it.

My advice would be to give it a go. Living in constant pain is horrible and if this can help it's worth trying. If it doesn't help, you can stop taking it.

Really hope you get some relief soon

    Lucy

The problem is trying to get off this drug, if it suits you, then you wouldn’t need to stop taking it.  Do your research before deciding, and hope you find some relief from the pain

Hi again. Have you tried a tens machine? I have one and find it useful. Having a support system around is comforting. Other ideas are heat pads, these are useful as you have full control over them with a flick of a switch, they are safe as they turn off if left unattended.  Take care xx

Hi Flying:  Soooo sorry to know of your misery.  What was the reason you did not continue Ketamine?

I've been on Cymbalta for two months for anxiety and depression and it is prescribed for fibromyalgia so it may be beneficial for your pain.  You might want to check out my friends site painsandiego dot com.  She is a pain specialist.  My heart goes out to you.

Cymbalta causes spasms and cramps. I understand it contains fluoride which causes fibromyalgia. Other drugs contain fluoride such as the fluoroquinolones , duloxetine, fluoxetine. If u google the name of a dr whose name I am not allowed to put on here despite him being a practising medical dr he talks about the dangers of the fluroqiinolones and what they did to him.

Unfortunately, in Ukraine Ketamine is VERY hard to find, and all we got was a very small dosage (i used it like 3 times) and now we are trying to reach to the doctors who are on top of the chain, because it's near impossible to get Ketamine here legally. Thank you fot the info about the sire, i will definetely check it out! Can i somehow talk to your friend, maybe she knows something usefull?
