Question about lichen sclerosus symptoms.

Hi all, just wondering, can lichen cause reoccurring tears in the same spot? I have been tearing in the fourchette area every time during intercourse (which has never happened before). My doctor said it is unlikely to be lichen because it’s happening in the same spot over and over (??). Pretty sure this is a classic symptom of lichen! She is a general practitioner, not a gynocolgesist so maybe she is unfamiliar with LS. Can anyone tell me if this is a symptoms of Ls?

Yes, that is definitely a symptom.

I'm not entirely clear what the difference is between the fourchette and perineum, but the perineum is the only place I can feel any difference in my skin caused by the LS. It feels a little rough and sensitive.

I would go to a doctor familiar with LS. Can't imagine a GP would be that knowledgeable as some gynecologists aren't that familiar with it.

HI Nicole, yes indeed LS happens over and over again at the same spots (different for each woman, AND the spots also tend to change over time).

Nicole dearheart, didn't one of the other women here suggest that you need to go off penetrative sex until you've got this a bit under control?

I can only tell you that when I first realized this issue about 9 months ago (I'm 72 and haven't had a partner in years), my areas were the anus and the perineum and a bit later that fourchette area.   for me personally - I can't speak for anyone else - these split open sores will not heal over regardless of being stretched by a penis or not, if I haven't kept up with my Vitamin D3 protocol.

Research published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences examined the vasodilating – blood vessel relaxing – properties of grape seed fractions. By allowing blood vessels to open rather than restrict, blood travels with less force, reducing pressure.

As a matter of fact ladies, just this morning I was reassessing my supplement list since my supplements arrived in the mail. I'm back to taking my vitamins etc  I was reading up again about grape seed extract that i have listed on the Protocol from whatever I read months ago.  I had just found another article that caught my eye. see that SMOOTH muscles listed? Guess what our vaginas are made out of? I had looked this up a while ago for you all who are having problems with the tightening of your vjays, but hadn't posted it yet.  Well here tis. Apparently our vagina walls are made of several layers, one of which is SMOOTH muscles.

This study showed that grape seed procyanthocyanidins promoted nitric oxide (NO) release and an increase in cyclic GMP levels. Nitric oxide is a molecule that is only active for a few seconds at a time in the bloodstream. Even though it is considered a free-radical, it actually has beneficial effects for blood pressure, helping signal the opening of blood vessels and arteries. Cyclic GMP (cGMP) also relaxes smooth muscles, including blood vessels.

SO here is one possible nutritional support for stretchy vjays. And here is another:

Another layer of our vagina walls is Collagen. Elasticity!

The brand that I researched a couple years ago for hair and aging skin in general that I liked the most for it's ethical characteristics is called GREAT LAKES

COLLAGEN HYDROLYSATE – The unique combination of amino acids in concentrated levels can promote healing and conditioning over other proteins. If used properly with a balanced and sensible diet, gelatin can be also be quite healthy as leading nutritional researchers have found that it’s an excellent source of protein and the calcium.

SKIN AND HAIR – As we age collagen production declines and you may notice it with looser skin, more wrinkles, and less elasticity. When you increase collagen levels you notice the skin looking firmer, increased smoothness, and keeping skin cells renewing and repairing normally.

JOINTS – When we lose collagen, the tendons and ligaments start moving with less ease, leading to stiffness, and swollen joints. When you increase collagen, it is like greasing your joints to help you move around easily, reduce joint pain, and reduce the risk of joint deterioration.

BOOSTS METABOLISM & ENERGY – Increasing collagen can increase your metabolism. The glycine found in collagen helps pump sugar into your body’s tissue to increase energy levels. Mentioned before, it helps in muscle development. Muscles burn more calories than fat.

DETOX – Glycine helps minimize damage your liver experiences when it absorbs foreign substances that should not be passing through it. One of the best ways to cleanse your liver is through bone broth fast.

Hi Nancy, Yes i did take everyone’s advice. i have not hadn’t intercourse in 2 weeks. however today when i was explaining my symptoms to my general practitioner, she made i.t seem like my past tearing during sex in the same area is not a sign of lichen. So now i’m going to see my gynocolgesist tomorrow for a definitive diagnosis.

Hi Nicole my GP didn’t pick it up. I was referred to a specialist who diagnosed LS a month ago. On a course of steroid cream, soap substitute and using YES moisturiser/lube for intercourse I find this helps. I was advised to try different positions. So I would push to see a specialist to get this sorted

Thank you, i am going to my gynocolgesist tomorrow. I will request a biopsy. Hopefully she is knowledgeable in LS

nicole, I was diagnosed without a biopsy. Doctor (gyn)  specializes in menopausal issues. I feel comfortable with what she has to say based upon an exam. But that decision is up to you.

Hi Nicole - Just to add my voice to the others - that is exactly what happened to me.  I suspect it's because the skin cells are starting to change.  The next most obvious symptom was the itching.
