Hi - have you been going to physiotheraphy? Your physiotherapist should be able to work with you and help you with the muscle movement

    Kevin,

Since we know nothing of details in your particular injury I couldn't begin to guess how your recovery outcome will turn out.

However, be assured that most patients get a good deal (and some get all) of their old ankle back.

The golden key to a successful outcome, in my opinion, is a rigorous regimen of physiotherapy (ankle exercises plus work on proprioception and healthy walking gait).

I believe such rehab work has to be ongoing to ensure a lasting improvement-- forget the idea that you did a few physiotherapy sessions and now you are over and done with it.

If one is financially crimped and can not afford a professional therapist then there are a lot of DIY resources online to guide you along the way.

    Good luck.
