Question about vaccines

Is it recommended that PMR patients on steroid have Flu and Pneumonnia Vaccines?

    Interesting question susan, and one I'd not thought about. Actually, I was going to request my annual vaccination at my primary appt. next time I saw him! I'll now check w/my Reuhmatologist when I see her in a few weeks. Thx. for the "heads up"!

    Yes! As an ICU nurse that has seen many die from flu and pneumonia.... please vaccinate! Neither of these are live attenuated vaccines so you are safe to do so!

    Yes.  But there's the usual caveat that people on immunosuppressant medication may not develop as good a response as you might like.  Nevertheless the vaccines will make any flu or pneumonia attack much less likely, and much less severe if you do succumb.
