Hello everyone !
First of all, I just want to say thanks for all of you that takes time to support and help...its amazing!
I take lexapro .
I take AD since 12 years for anxiety. Im med sensitive. Tried a lot of them but only a few helped.
I was on lexapro from 2014 to 2017. Made a burn out and anxiety, etc. Since 2 years, I had too many changes in my medications from my doctor. I saw a psychiatrist and she quit them in last october...huge mistake. I went into a real bad depression.
So since last november, I have a new psychiatrist. Im back on lexapro. first month at 10mg, then 15 mg from late december to late april. Now, Im trying to make my way to 20mg which is the max dose. Im doing 18.5mg. I felt good last 2 weeks but this week, I am really lighthead and sooo exhausted all day long.
I have been tired since my depression and all blood test are fine.
In the past 2015-2017), I used to take my med in morning. I remember feeling tired but not like now. I now take my med in afternoon.
I wish sooo much that cutting my pills trying to do around 18mg is not messing with me??? Should I go to 20mg? Is it possible that my exhaustion stopped???
My anxiety was better lately. I just dont understand.
Also... When I started to up to 18, I was cutting my 10mg pill in half and the other half in half to do 10+5+2.5. Now, I have a new prescription from my psychiatrist and its 20mg. So cutting it is not that easy. Maybe my doses are somehow not enough precise!???
Thanks sooo much in advance....

Why did you feel that you had to go up from 15mg?
Sedation from an AD can often suggest the dose is too high.
However, if you are like me and THAT sensitive, any change in dose will bring about side effects, so as you have just started this dose after months being stable on 15mg, then this could be one answer. If you are cutting the tablets then yes, you will also have trouble with not getting a level dose each time, which can cause fluctuating blood levels from day to day. Not the best idea. Most people could take 1mg either way of their usual dose, but again, if you are too sensitive like me, then you will feel this, and the result will be similar to start-up side effects.

Hi Matts!
Actually, I have been tired since a while and my anxiety was still really present. Thats why the doc suggest to raise. My anxiety got better with the increase. She thinks Im tired because of anxiety.
But maybe not having stable doses in my body brings me to feel like I do now.
I never did 20mg before. I really hope it can help.
My tummy is a little sensitive. I guess it will go.
What dose do you take and at what time? Do you feel tired also?
Thanks so much

I was on Lexapro for 4 months, but had to switch as it gave me dizziness and fatigue all the time. I was on 15mg, then dropped to 10mg, which helped a little, but not enough. I am now back on Citalopram and waiting for the withdrawal to end!
Lexapro is a very powerful drug and the effects can last for some time. If you are going to try 20mg, I would consider just going direct to that dose now from the 18mg. You are likely to cause more issues from not having a stable dose.
You will need to give yourself at least another 8 weeks at a stable dose to judge the effects. If you still do not find your anxiety is any better, your doc might consider supplementing the Lex with Pregabalin or similar. But I would give the Lexapro the time it needs - I do not think adding more pills is the best idea - especially if you are sensitive.

Mu psychiatrist wanted to add abilify but Im not really into adding some more. And really want to gain much weight. But anyway, what I really wish is to return to a more functionnal me like before my "breakdown " that began january 2017. I have been on meds for 12 years. But since 2 years, it seems more complicated.
At 15, I still had anxiety so I wish 20 will help with that and motivation and energy. I hate changing dose cause that makes me really anxious and I kind of anticipate the side effects. Im hypocondriac so...lol...
I felt really blah today and the last week. But today, I took 20. I feel a bit edgy inside and foggy head. But I always have that with dose changes.
I tried citalopram a year ago for almost 3 months and I was sleeping all day long, had migraines and anxiety and felt low.
Its weird that some meds helps and some dont.
Thank you Matts and I hope you feel good soon. Sometimes our body needs longer I guess to readapt to a med after we changed it.
