I've been in 10mgs propranolol for 11 days and was on 5mgs fir 6 days before that. I've noticed a headache for a couple of days. I'm on it for migraine associated vertigo. I don't think the headache is normal I also have pain across the upper shoulders and neck. I don't know if it's stress either.
I'm calling the doc tomorrow about it. But I'm wondering if I stop taking it will cause a problem?

Poor you - I sometimes get the vertigo after a migraine, and it's foul! The propranolol should slow down your blood flow, and help to stop you actually getting migraine. It lowers your blood pressure, so you can feel a bit dizzy (ironic!) but not as badly as after a migraine, in my experience. I'm on 40mgs twice a day, and would need to come off it very slowly. You are on a low dose, so I wouldn't worry about dropping it if it doesn't suit you. If you are very stressed, then the answer for you will not be just a drug. You need to look at mindfulness, counselling, or some kind of lifestyle change. Migraine is caused by triggers. Do you know what yours are? Stress is one of mine. Exercise helps, if you are well enough. They say Laughter is the best medicine, so try watching funny movies and spend time with people who cheer you up. Good luck!

Hi patty 818, i'm Jon 35493....... Propanol. I'm on 40 mg x2 daily. I too take it for severe migraine and it works great for me. My problem with this tablet is massive weight gain. I eat like a mouse, my exercise is limited due to severe spinal pain.I had a major operation, 3 disc's replaced+ stabilisation and nerve damage, and disc's rubbing at the top as well. Propanol works great, but it's a beta blocker so you have to stop taking them slowly. I hope you've got a good doctor, one that has time and listens, that make's a difference. Also check out pain management course and or cognitive behaviour therapy. That's made a great difference to my life. Also, ask your doctor to refer you to a specialist, they have different idea's to the doctor. I hope I've been of some use. Take care Patty 818.
