did prozac ever make your mood consistently good, with no bad days, no obsessive thoughts, no anxious thoughts, no panic attacks, no symptoms, etc? if so.. how long were you on it before your mood started leveling out consistently? while you were starting prozac, around the first 8-12 weeks, did you have good weeks and then a week of feeling anxious and hopeless? im on week 8 and every few weeks i get this sudden feeling of anxiety and anxious obsessive thoughts and panic and feelings that ill never have a good day without anxiety or debilitating symptoms again... did this happen to you? did they ever stop coming back? how long before they stopped??

Hi I was only on prozac for 2 weeks. Prior to taking prozac I Only suffered 2 panic attacks. But I truly believe it's because of all the stress I was going through with my personal life. Doctor prescribed me prozac to take for the rest of my life and I truly believe that was the biggest mistake I did. I began to feel symptoms I never experienced before . I could not sleep, I could not eat, and I always had a feeling of worry feeling. I also experienced hot flashes. My body was tremendously hot. After researching for long term effects of taking prozac I decided to stop completely since I only was on it for only 2 weeks. The 1st couple of days I could not sleep. It's been 3 weeks since I've been off prozac and I feel great. I am not anxious, I can sleep normal and everything is good. Everybody is different. I also meditate and drink sleepy time tea and night to relax.

    Hi

I've been on 60mg Prozac for 26 weeks. At the moment I am feeling 100% and have been feeling like this for 3-4 weeks.

Before this for the first 12 weeks, I felt absolutely crap, feeling sick and losing out on a lot of sleep every day, the first 3 weeks the worse. After 12 weeks, I was getting the odd week when I felt good then a couple of weeks after that feeling crap again. I nearly gave up several times but persevered and glad I did too.

It is a gradual process, but please don't give up yet. I'm sure you will get there.

I hope this puts some light at the end of the tunnel for you.

I was on prozac 10mg. After 2 weeks I stopped the medication and it's been almost 4 weeks now that I've been off the medication and I feel absolutely great. I have no symptoms whatsoever. I feel better than before I had my panic attack. At the end of the day I don't want my brain to rely on medication to always feel better. God-created us to produce our hormones naturally and not be dependent on medication to do so. As mentioned before when I started taking prozac I began experiencing symptoms I never experienced before even after my panic attack. I am glad I'm off the medication. I guess it was easy for my body to let go since I was only on it for 2 weeks on 10 mg

Every person is different. I still don't understand why I was giving this medication since I was not even depressed.

I'm surprised your Doctor even prescribed ADs after having only 2 panic attacks!

At the end of the day, I don't want my brain to rely on medication to always feel better either, but after suffering from severe anxiety and depression constantly for 3 years I had no choice. God may of created you to produce your own hormones, for which you should be eternally grateful but he obviously didn't create me or most of the other people that come on this forum the same way and yes most of us have experienced symptoms we have never experienced before in the first few weeks of taking Prozac. Unfortunately this is one of the common drawbacks.

I'm glad to hear that you feel a lot better after stopping your medication but we are not all so lucky to be in that situation. Some of us rely on it to get us through life.

    Hi Shelby,

I would definitely say to stay on it and push through. I was on prozac for about 5 months til I felt better. I was taking 20mg of prozac and .25mg xanax to help with the anxiety and what not, and then after the 5 months or so I was able to ween myself down to only taking xanax as needed, so every 3 or 4 days, maybe even more. I had a very great period of time in my life where I felt comfortable and didn't have much anxiety and what not for about a year or 2. I don't do well with change and I recently moved and went through some changes and now I am back to taking xanax again and upped my dose to 25mg prozac and started to have bad panic attacks, obsessive thoughts and anxiety. I am slowly getting better day by day and sometimes I get sent back some days but I do believe it works. I am also trying CBD oil in place of xanax which so far has helped a lot but I still have to ween myself off my xanax again.

Let me know if you have any questions! I am here for you.
