You will need to see what strain you have first! HSV1 or HSV2.

HSV1 you can spread to both oral and genital. Outbreaks tend to be less but everyone is affected differently. Viral shedding is said to be less also.

HSV2 is rarely spread to oral and usually just likes the genitals.

Females are a higher risk of contracting the virus and lower risk of spreading to males.

Of course you can still have sex but you should always disclose your status. Nothing is 100% but with condoms and suppressive therapy risk is decreased.

Obviously the biggest risk is while having an outbreak so I would suggest learning your triggers and prodromes so you can know your body. I will message you a good source for HSV2 transmission I use.

Herpes is so common chances are people will be carriers and not know. But it is always best to take precaution. Over time decisions can be made whether or not to use protection then!

If you have hsv on your genitals you won't spread it from kissing.

try not to have sex while having an outbreak

his outbreak can trigger one for you

your outbreak can trigger one for him viseVersa

my doctor said that will bounce outbreaks back and forth to one another causing continuous outbreak for you both .
