Questions to ask Gyno!?

Posted , 3 users are following.

So I have a 7cm hemorrhagic cyst on left ovary as well as free fluid surrounding ovary and a thickened uterine lining. I've been in pain for the past 4 weeks.

My gynaecologist called today and my appointment is next Wednesday!!!

I have so many questions in my head, do any of you ladies have suggestions on what to ask, perhaps you've been through this and know what is important to ask etc?

Thank you!

My daughter constantly formed hemorrhagic cysts after ovulation as a luteal hemorrhagic cyst. (ultrasound, MRI confirmation together with menstruation cycle and counting back to ovulation gave the interpretation, laparoscopic pic too)

They would stay around for up to 2 months and then rupture spontaneously (pain - and gone on imaging).

We put an end to this by taking 'Levlen' pill. Apparently not every pill does prevent functional cysts.

The pill will do nothing for the existing even functional hemorrhagic cyst, but for formation of new functional ones. (it will do nothing to prevent other types of cysts)

    - You might want to ask if the pill was an option for you.

    - You might want to ask how long to wait for natural hemorrhagic cyst rupture (as 6cm often is the statistic cut off for self-rupture)

    - You might want to ask how certain the diagnosis of 'hemorrhagic' cyst was, that it is not mistaken with an endometrioma (that will never rupture/disappear on its own - the imaging can be very similar).

    - You might want to ask when to perform imaging again to check on the cyst (if gone or same or grown)

    Best of luck!!!

      THAnk you for your reply!

My periods are very irregular with many months in between cycles. I'm unsure if that contributes to the the cyst growth or is something different all together.

The things they don't teach in health class!!! Haha!

With the info given, I would think the oligomenorrhea stems from the thickened endometrium.

If they offer a blood test for thyroid function, estrogen and androgens, that would be good too.

Yes, the cyst can mess up ovulation = periods = endometrium.

      All the best!!!
