hi after exposure to hsv2 and having long time hsv1 I had wierd sensations. I've had a neg western blot at 8 months. I decided to do it again at my 1 year mark along with igG. my igG was neg for type 2 and igg was always pos for type 1, I'm still waiting on my wb results. If western blot is neg can I be certain? it's scary when u read about people finding out later in life and having low numbers at that. has anyone knew their exposure and rested beyond 1 year to find a pos result. I mean many diseases and infections are found in months why is hsv so difficult? I almost feel as if hsv1 antibodies may have fought off hsv2 upon infection or it went into hiding and my immune system hasn't detected it maybe. I don't even kno anymore, is that a possibility smh or it doesn't work that way?

i would say you are negative now. from what i read Wb is very accurate and by 8 months i believe your body would have had antibodies to show .

I followed your story and they say igG for hsv1 can miss 30% of cases but in your situation it doesn't present like it so I wouldn't be too worried honestly. I've had type 1 for years and years and high antibodies or not when it comes to surface it starts with tingles then vesicles to ulcers and scabs up for a week. last time it happened was about 2 years ago. I think with neg testing you're good and especially with no antibodies you'd of had the classic outbreak like I described. If you're in the usa you could do the western blot just for a peice of mind.
