[b:bfb1982298] i HAVE BEEN ON Quetiapine FOR 7 WEEKS NOW,AT FIRST I TOOK IT ALONG SIDE TWO OTHER MOOD STABILISERS BUT 5 WEEKS LATER I WAS FORMALLY DIAGNOSED WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER NOT A GREAT SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM AS I KNEW I HAD IT OR HAVE BEEN BATTLING WITH IT FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW. I FEEL THIS DRUG IS BENEFICIAL HOWEVER I AM VERY TIRED MOST OF THE TIME BUT I THINK I NOT THE DRUGS HAVE A DETRIMENTAL PART OF THIS OI TEND TO DO A LOT TO DISTRACT MYSELF FROM MY REAL THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS.

ANYWAY I AM ON 600mg QUITE A LOT COMPARABLE TO OTHERS BUT I SHALL PERSEVEER WITH IT.

You made this discussion a long time ago and may not even come back to check on it. I hope you have discovered you need to think about and deal with your own thoughts and feelings. I have found that the medicine works a treat and has abled me to stay within 'normal balance' while I have been looking at and dealing with my own thoughts and feelings which were a GREAT part of my 'mind and emotional confusion'.

    best of luck.

Hi there. I thought I just had depression/stress/anxiety, but over the last 2-3 years I have had periods of manic behaviour and periods of depression (3-4 months each period.) Have just been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder (Level 2). Am about to start taking these pills, albeit at a low dose to start with. How are they? Do you put on weight and can you drink alcohol?

My experience with this drug has been good. It has worked for me and I have tried over the years a ot of ulternatives. I would advise you not to drink alcohol with these or any medication. I used to drink while ill and on these pills and my illness was made worse through drinking and also was prolonged. The alcohol mixed with the medication can have an adverse effect on the mind and the body, in other areas as we all know however especially, the mind id a complicated mind field and as we are ill people with instabilities through the way ours are made it is a dangerous process to mix things up even further through alcohol or drug abuse. I ended up at my local mental health hospital in crisis last year and alcohol amongst other things was the main cause. I think drinking in moderation is ok and not drinking to excess is a good thing anyway. My advise now live and learn baby
