Quiting celexa

Posted , 2 users are following.

Dr. prescribe me celexa for my anxiety disorder. I started with 2.5 mg (1/4 of 10 mg tablet). On 5th day, I start getting tipsy ( as if I om on drugs) for 10 hours a day. I talked to Dr. and told me to get off of it and since I was on low dose, I dont have to taper. I did total of 7 days before I quit. today is already 3rd day of not taking it but I am still tipsy whole day almost from 10 am to 8 pm. Did any of you have such experience? I donno what to do as doc. is not adding any more suggestions.

The half life (the time taken for the amount of it in your body to reduce to half) of Citalopram is around 35 hours, although you're now twice that, that doesn't mean it's all gone yet so you may feel the effects a little longer.

Having said that, you were on a very low dose and for only 1 week so it's a bit surprising that you are still feeling odd.

I guess you have a couple of options:

    1. Wait a couple more days
    2. Ask for a second opinion from a different doctor

Did you have any of these symptoms (even mildly) before you started?
