RA 5 Years - 6 months on Cimzia - very swollen feet?

Posted , 5 users are following.

So I have been on a combo of anti inflams. sulpazalazine, Azathiprine and hydroxychloroquine for about 5 years with no real improvement in pain or Crp levels so finally made the decision to start on Cimzia about 6 months which other than a several chest and throat infection 1 week after first loading dose has worked really well. However in the past 6 weeks I've developed severely swollen feet. I'm also quite short of breath but had initially put this down to having been increasingly inactive over the past few months. Should I be worried by the feet situation ? I'm travelling so can't see my local doctors or rheum you until end of August

I'm surprised nobody seems to google these things.   What you are experiencing are both listed as cimzia side effects for which you should see a Doctor immediately,   These effects could also be caused by other conditions/medications, better safe than sorry though!

Tony thanks for taking the time to reply so helpfully - perhaps unsurprisingly I have googled it but yes can be caused by numerous other things. Your kind of reply doesn't actually help promote people asking advice of fellow sufferers of medical conditions who have practical real life experience of symptoms and treatments that they can share - so have a fabulous days Tony

My last reply is waiting to be moderated- really???? I've no idea why!! ???? I was simply saying that yes skhavis I think you should get checked out. I'm on cimzia too and your symptoms are on the "get checked" list. And you should feel free to ask questions, concerns and comments on this site since sharing our experiences of meds and symptoms is often reassuring. Let us know how you get on. Gemma.

Hi skhavis, I'm on cimzia too and I purposely didn't check the side effects list until I was experiencing something different for me. However wot your experiencing is on the side effects list. combined with the shortness of breath I think you should go to the doc/hospital and get it checked. Could the swollen feet be due to something else like being in an extremely hot country? Or walking a lot more than usual? I'd certainly get in checked out wherever you are when you can. By the way, you should feel free to ask questions and comments on this site, that's wot it's for. X let us know how you get on. G.

Thanks Gemma - I don't think it's heat related as it was really incredibly hot before I left home and having spent a lot of time overseas in the heat it's never bothered me before. I'm going to call my cimzia nurse and see what she thinks X

Skhavis, i'm with the others on this site that you should get it checked out but as you are travelling maybe you could skype with your rheumatologist. As I live 5 hours journey away from mine I skype appointment with her in between full appointments and it works well. Good luck.
