RA hip pain

Posted , 4 users are following.

Have been on methotrexate for 5 weeks, prednisone 10mg for 7/8 weeks also taking paracetamol and codeine. I know the DMARD's can take a few months to work but im still flaring constantly. The worst at the moment is my hips. I'm now struggling to walk and feel the need to lean on something to take the weight of my hips. It's making me so miserable and immobile.

I'm waiting for the rheumatology nurse to call back as my doctor is not keen to adjust my meds after only recently starting them.

Does anyone have any tips to help?

I'm only taking 45mgs ish codeine a day as it knocks me out and i need to be aware for my children!

Many thanks

Hi Gemma...So sorry to hear your still suffering, but it is early days, and hope the meds kick in soon...

I think the only advice is, be carfeul..Dont try and do what you used to do before the pain started, and ask others to be patient....Not easy when you have kiddies I know, but you have to sort of find your own way through the pain and stiffness...Not much advice I know, but getting others to help out more is essentail...Hope the pain eases soon for you

Your rheumy nurse may get permission from the consultant to increase mxt dose- though as you say it will still take time.

At the beginning I just kept taking paracetamol every 4 hours to keep it in my system. Helped a bit.

Sorry to hear you are so rough-
