RA symptoms but blood tests negative

Hi I am 28 and I sustained a knee injury in both legs about three months back, they still haven't healed and I now have rsi in both my hands and can bearly use the PC. I have stiffness in my fingers, but no swelling anywhere. Dr said my full blood tests were all negative and maybe I have a virus our hyperflexible joints, the painkillers (naproxen) aren't working and I'm not healing, so I don't know what to do. Anyone got any advice? Thanks.

    Hi Chris,

I have hypermobility in my joints which left me suffering undiagnosed RA for 10+ years.  I went private in the end and I was diagnosed within the week - push with your doctor and demand they refer you to a joint specialist.

    Best of luck :-)

Hello I have just been diagnosed with RA. My tests are negative so it doesn't mean alot. Push to be referred to a rheumatologist. I am whats called seronegative. It means I have ra but blood tests are clear. Good luck. X

Well I saw a rhumatologist eventually, two actually, the first one thought I had inflammatory arthritis and sent me to another one, who said he did not know what I had because I do not have swelling and morning stiffness, but I have the other symptoms, stiffness pain etc (but with negative blood tests and x rays). I am going to do some more repeats of the blood test and have an ultra sound, however I am optimistic because my knees and arms have been slowly improving. I have bad days still, but I think it may be getting better by itself. If you are responding to NSAIDs then it is inflammation in the joints you have and they should be able to pick that up with an ultrasound and treat you from there. I guess if you feel fine after NSAIDs then you probably have some low level form of it and I do not know what they would do with you!

      Thanks mate,

I went to a couple of Rehumy's as well. They had no clue, after xrays, blood test . I think will need MRI to see what is going on.

But it seems to be getting better now...

      Hoping for the best...for us.
