Rainbow halos around lights in one eye

Posted , 5 users are following.

I was diagnosed as being nearsighted and having an astigmatism. I also had a partial Posterior Vitreous Detachment but other then that every Ophthalmologist and Optometrist have said my eyes are healthy. I've seen rainbow halos around lights at night for quite sometime but I never attributed it to just one eye until recently.

at my last eye exam my iop was a 17 which is a little high but other then that everything checked out.

does anyone know if rainbow halos can be caused by astigmatism and nearsightedness or am I just being a hypochondriac?

You don't mention your age, and I don't know what "Posterior ........." is or "iop".I can tell you that my first sign of having cataracts was rainbow halos around lights.

I'm 31 almost 32 and iop is inner ocular pressure, a poster vitreous detachment is what gives us floaters.

No your astigmatism , nearsightedness, or pvd will not typically cause halos. You may have slight cataract formation which usually everyone will. If it does not effect the vision most doctors wont mention it as some people might freak out.

    Hello, Atomic!

This was 8 months ago so I do not know if you will see this...

Anyhow, I am 20 years, turned recently and I have extreme halos in both of my eyes. Makes it hard for me to drive at times. I went to multiple eye exams, all came back clear. I did a head MRI, also clear.

Retinitis pigmentosa runs in my family, but I have been given the all clear for that aswell, and I have no symptoms for pigmentosa.

I do not wear glasses and I do not have any other eye vision problems other than the halos.

It is really bugging me and I was wondering if we could share some info.

    all the best.
