Well today the weather is overcast and on/off rain no sun just clouds and to make things even better my l knee just aches and its not a mild ache either. Surgery is 15 days away and if my knee stays like this the whole time it is very much going to suck!!

It's the weather. For me snow is the worst. Rain bad but tolerable. I think my knees do a better at predicting the weather then the weather forecasters

Hi. It is reassuring to read this thread. Winter has struck here in New Zealand and my knee is really responding to the cold badly. I have to wear thermal tights and keep it really warm and often find myself with a lap blanket or something covering the knee to prevent the pain.

I guess it is a price some of us pay to get out from how the knee used to be. I am happy to trade it for the pain and other issues I had before.

nwf, sorry your knee aches. I have a question about knee infections post TKR: 1. what antibiotic do they usually give you and does it have to always be by IV (and in the hospital)? 2. Can they give it to you orally? 3. How long? I have read 6 weeks?

Its been 3 years since I had the PICC line and I cannot remember what the antibiotic was called. From what I remember it has to be taken thru an IV 2X a day for 6 weeks and the PICC line is put in while your in the hospital and it will go home with you. Infections are not fun and neither is the treatment.

    Hi there,

I'm now 2 and half years post op, partial knee replacement, right knee. My right knee is still like the weather bureau ! HOWEVER, nothing like the pain I experienced before surgery …. its always on a sunny, dry day when barometric pressure starts to fall (low pressure) forecasting the coming of a rainy period. Forecasting wise - never ever lets me down with the forecast Lol!

In terms of pain, compared to before surgery its nothing. Before surgery I was on pain relief, regardless. Now its a very, very mild ache and not enough to send me searching for pain relief.

Good luck with your coming surgery.

May the force be with you.

    John
