Raised Gamma in liver test

Anyone know what causes raised Gamma get levels. I recently had a blood test and my liver was fine apart from raised Gamma get. Doctorsaid it was very high and asked if I drink a lot I don't drink at all and he said it is probably due to me having fatty liver which was diagnosed I October 2015.

I'm not convinced though because my other symptoms are upper abdominal discomfort, middle upper back discomfort diarrhea, occasional vomiting, weight loss, fatigue. I've been like this for 7 weeks

Any idea's what's going on?

Thanks

GGT is normally alcohol. Do you know what the reading was?

Difficult to diagnose over the internet, could be quite a number of things. Without knowing you, your history and the results in front of me, I wouldn't guess. Could be problems, with pancreas, gallbladder, spleen. The only sure way is an ultrasound.

Why have you got a fatty liver? Are you overweight and have a poor diet, i.e. junk food, ready meals etc.

I've had an ultrasound Oct 2015 that revealed fatty liver. All other organs fine. Pancreas couldn't be seen due to gas. A pancreas blood test was done and came back clear. I don't drink alcohol at all. My history is chronic upper abdominal pain vomiting diarrhea weight loss, been to my doctor 6 times and he run blood test urine test stool test all clear except very high ggt (I do not know how high) Dr says he not concerned because it is normal to have high ggt with fatty liver.

My doctor diagnosed me with gastroenteritis viral, so did 5 other doctors. I'm not getting better though, I'm getting worse

    Hi Mark,

You are probably like me a non alcoholic with fatty liver that got spiked up GGT. Two possible causes you not sleeping at the proper time ( like me - way till after midnight each night and short sleeping time( like under 5 hours). I change my sleeping time now from 3am to 7 am to 10 pm till 6 pm. Stress also can raise your GGT. My level in August 2015 was over 668. Now after taking 3 tablespoons of fresh Indian gooseberry juice every morning followed by fresh lemon juice from half lemon, 2 teaspoons of honey and 2 teaspoon of olive leaf extract mixed with half a glass of warm water. This is followed by 1 capsule of Omega 3-180 mg of EPA/120mg of DHA 3 times per day and 1 capsule of Vitamin E-400iu per day with 1 multivitamins tablet twice a day. My GGT reading now has gone down to 220. Normal reading should not exceed 51. I hope to reduce the GGT level further within another 6 months.

Thanks Walter, I will try what you have posted and see if this reduces my GGT levels, do you suffer any other symptoms?
