Raising lexapro from 10 to 20

Hello all, I've been dealing with GAD and panic for 16 years now with the last 4 years being very smooth, I have had a few times with panic attacks but I brushed them off and went on.

About 20 days ago I had a major panic attack followed by constant anxiety that has now flipped my world upside down.

I've been taking 5mg of lexapro for the last 12 years. I seen my doctor about 9 days ago and he raised me to 10mg, I'm still a mess but have done a little better.

Today I seen a psychiatrist and she wants me to jump to 20mg and said if I want I can just take 15 and see how I do.

So here is my question, do I stay on the 10mg and give it a little more time since its only been 8 days or should I take the leap to 20mg and hope for the best?

I also have xanax that I've been taking twice a day.

Your blood levels will not stabalise within 9 days - you need to give each dose more time. What is wrong with these "professionals"?!

Plus if you jump that quickly to such a dose, I can almost guarantee you will have some nasty side effects. A jump of 15mg within a 2 week period of Lexapro is downright stupid.

Give the 10mg another couple of weeks and evaluate from there and consider 15mg, ubt no sooner.

    All the best.

its been 21 days now on lexapro, I do have times when I feel better and I have been pushing myself that are stressful.

I've also been eating more, will the 10mg lexapro work even better in the next week or so?
