Random sharp chest pains

I've been having short sharp chest pains for a week now. First it would happen around the same time every day but now it happens more frequently each day, but still randomly. It would be short sharp pains when I lay down and when I breath in deeply.

I don't know if this is related but I have also been experiencing chills and night sweats, though not every night.

What could be causing this?

All those symptoms sound exactly like pericarditis. Its caused by a virus and the usual treatment is anti inflammatories like Ibuprofen ,plenty of drinks, rest, stay in a warm room or even in bed. It can help to be more upright when you are in bed, sleeping. Can take 10 days to 2 weeks to resolve.

If the chest pains become more severe then go to A/E if you are in UK. You may need something stronger than Ibuprofen.

Are you having any breathing problems, high blood pressure or palpitations? If you are, look up pulmonary embolism symptoms.
