Ranitidine advice needed

I have taken PPI's for about twenty years for acid reflux, Hiatus Hernia , duodenal ulcers etc. I started with Nexium which was probably thse most effective later as usual in the UK switched to cheaper generic brands and at other times all the other PPI's.
A couple of times I was prescribed Ranitidine that I Vaguely felt did not agree with me. Recently my stomach problems have been worse and my GP prescribed 300mg Ranatidine to be taken at night with as the PIF says a glass of water. Does night mean last thing at night as I don't want to down a glass of water before laying down or can I take it in the late evening and later have a snack and a milk drink before going to bed or even take it with milk.
With other meds our pharmacist says that a glass of water is not needed just enough to swallow them. What is the object of taking 300 mg at night rather than a lower dose morning and night ?
The tablets are not scored so is it OK to use a pill cutter to cut them in half or does its inner being exposed speed up its effect.
Since taking it I have had a headache which is very unusual for me.

im assuming youre aware of all the side effects of taking ppis long term? 20 years is a long time!
Are you taking magnesium as a supplement?
Theres a lot of contravercy about Ranatidine at the moment, you might be aware so maybe try using Gaviscon in the nght time and adjustng your diet, it works!
I have a hiatus hernia from birth and have suffered all my life with pain and reflux, long term ppis and ended up with osteoporosis!
Due to stress this year l was in agony, eating processed foods for ease and lack of time, and resorted to Ranatidine which helped but didnt stop it, l had horrendous pain from reflux, l had to do something drastic.
Try cutting out all dairy, eggs, gluten, meat citrus fruits, sugar, coffee and extra salt. Swap this for vegetables esp green leafy ones, legumes, beans, nuts (lots of non dairy alternatives)tomatoes, fruits except citrus and take supplements of probiotics, enzymes and magnesium (maybe a good multivitamin/mineral.
It sounds severe but l can tell you, its amazing. l eat porridge with non dairy milk, honey and blueberries, lots of small meals. l make a big pot of vegetable stew with beans and only a small amount of olive oil and seasoning. The relief gained is incredible after a few days. l only now take a little gaviscon if l wake during the night, this all within 3weeks.
its worth trying especially in the wake of the fears about Ranatidine.

APOLOGIES the connection is very bad here. Only part of the message seems to have gone through.
Homeopathic medicine is great but l think its about the person dispensing it more so, the correct knowledge and ability to make up remedies.
Healthfood shops, theres one large chain whos goods are on offer regularly, l wouldnt trust that and there was a little reesearch done on certain products showing that the quality wasnt good.
As for plant based 'milks' l didnt like them at the start but l prefer them now and to be honest, changing a diet to relieve my pain is a price lm delighted to pay!

For perhaps your amusement. The first homeopath I went to was a Sikh who was an NHS doctor in London and did homeopathy privately. He was very thorough in his examination of me and went through a long questionaire. The consultation took about forty minutes. He prescribed two remedies that worked and my digestion problems greatly improved for the next seven years.
Unfortunately I could no longer go back to him as he was in jail for two other side lines he had been running. He had been selling prescription for drugs to addicts and was also selling false passports an identity documents to illegal immigrants.
