Rapid-fire panic cycle, gasping for air

Posted , 2 users are following.

I've had this experience a few times recently where I have a very short, vivid dream, wake up gasping for air, and then immediately fall back asleep, have another short dream, wake up gasping for air, and continue in this cycle for what seems like forever. It's like being in a nightmare merry go round I can't get out of. As soon as I wake up in a panic I'm dragged back to sleep. Sometimes it's coupled with sleep paralysis or night terror (not sure the right terminology) where I can't move and can see my room but can't wake up. I've tried googling my symptoms but that hasn't been quite fruitful. Any thoughts or insight would be great!
