Rash going purple, does it mean it’s healing?

So nearly a week ago I got a rash and it became widespread over a few days. At first it wasn’t itchy then it became really really itch. I went to the walk in centre Saturday who gave me some tablets and cream for the itching. I’ve been told it’s a viral infection and could last up to 2 weeks.

Last night and today the rash has turned from red to a purplish colour. Is this a sign that it’s heqling? I can’t find anything online.

    Yes.

Red turning to purple is good. Usually this means blood flow is decreasing to the area, which means inflammation is going down.

The term "viral infection" is usually used when a mysterious rash with no obvious cause appears, and so many problems can be classed like this.   Do you feel well otherwise?    If your rash has turned dark purple you should seek another medical opinion.   Most rashes just fade
