I know we cant blame everything on peri but I have had a very bad rash on my chest, steroids shots, antibiotics, creams and steroid pills...cultured it and Dr cannot find anything other than allergic reaction...Well now another month has passed and now getting a rash on my stomach looks almost the same, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this or maybe hormone related....any advice would be great.....

HI Judy, Yes, I find I get more skin issues now then ever, itchy skin, a crop of skin tags, warts, and rashes, a couple years ago it looked like hives all over my back. Last month I had a very painful period which happens from time to time, and I woke up to a rash on my neck, around my arm pits and in the middle of my chest, the only times I get those kind of rashes is if I am sick with a viral infection. One doesnt realize the impact hormones have on our body until they start going wacky. Yes I never know what symptom I have each day, and wonder is this perimenopause or something else. This is a real mind gaming time of life, it seems that way anyway.

Hi Judy,
This was my entire last year. I ended up with an allergic dermatitis to a conditioner, moisturizer, and laundry detergent that I had used for years! I went through the same routine with steroid creams and the dermatologist saying "sometimes we never know what sets the rash off." He was remarkably chill about it.
This never would have happened before peri. Estrogen is linked directly to histamine. And with age comes a breakdown in the lipid barrier of the skin. So irritants that our body's natural oil would repel now sit on the skin.
Can you pinpoint a time when it happens? Mine was worse at night after a shower, moisturizing and conditioning of my hair.
I had to really purge my routine. Vinegar for the laundry, goat's milk soap in the shower, dermatologist shampoo. Have you switched detergents/using a detergent with perfume? New / perfume-heavy conditioner or body wash? It's usually the perfume that is the first suspect in an allergic response.

in perimenopause our estrogen is high compared to progesterone and when we have estrogen flares it triggers histamine hence why exercise and heat makes it worse! estrogen receptors are on histamine receptors.
