Rat bite

I'am 2 months pregnant and got bitten by a rat in my right foot. I immediately clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide and apply povidone iodine. Is it necessary to take any kind of vaccine like anti-tetanus or anti-rabies?my worries is my pregnancy if i'll take any vaccine...please help me...thanks...

    Hi Rey, first of yes you need to be checked out by your GP or walkin Centre just to be on the safe side.

    You don't say where you are and whether it was a wild rat or a pet rat, putting hydrogen peroxide on was a good first response but you do need antitetnus jab, I had one years ago while pregnant and it didn't seem to cause and problems but medical opinions change so they want give it you if it's not safe.

    Ring your surgery and ask the question.

    100% go to your GP. You need to make sure there isn’t anything you could have got infected with by the rat.
