Raw stomach ache after pooping

Posted , 5 users are following.

If I have been constipated for a day or 2, when I finally go, I get this really unpleasant raw stomach ache in my central upper abdomen and I also feel a bit nauseous. It lasts about 2-3 hours. Has anyone else had this and does anyone know what this could be? Is it normal or should I go to the doctors?

HI stomach problems can be a host of different things and i would not worry , i think it is best to go to your doctor first and see what they say , and go from there good luck confused

When you finally pass stools after constipation, this should relieve your pain, not increase it.  That is what my doctor told me.  How long have you had these symptoms?  If it is over s week, I would see your doctor.  I had constipation, constant shifting abdominal pain, nausea, back pain and loose, urgent stools.  I was diagnosed with IBS.

My poop was not loose when it came out it was pretty big, I wonder if it was because I stretched my colon and irritated it! I have had this before a couple of times but not every time. I am usually quite regular. I had stomach problems at the beginning of the year and I was later diagnosed with multiple PEs and I think there is a link there between the two. I had an abdominal CT scan with contrast in April and everything was normal. I normally get a bit of stomach rawness after a curry or Mexican takeaway but I haven’t eaten anything like that to eat for a while. I suppose it could be a bit of IBS I used to get that in my 20s when I was anxious. I also haven’t taken a PPI for a couple of days I have taken one now. Could it be a stomach acid problem?

What are multiple PEs?  Stomach acid problems would not cause bowel habit change.  When I first got acid reflux, it didn’t change my bowel habits.  It is lkely you are having an IBS flare up.  IBS doesn’t go away.  It can go into remission and then come back again.   Acid reflux and IBS go together.  You may get acid rebound if you have been off your PPIs.

You would know if you had acid reflux if you have heartburn, food reguritation or a dry itchy cough which is relieved with antacids.

Sorry multiple pulmonary emboli which is blood clots on my lungs, I am on blood thinners now and they have dispersed. It has been very stressful though. It is probably one of the scariest things I have been through, so I am not surprised if my IBS has come back.

What do they give you when you are constipated? When I had IBS before I had the opposite problem! Constipation is a relatively new thing for me and I don’t want to take laxatives. I eat plenty of veg and salad so it is not because I am unhealthy.

Hi laxatives are bad for you. Try taking stool softeners. They work better than laxatives. After my experience from surgery i was given stool softeners which helped me tremendously. Give them a go. And try introducing bran into your diet. Like a cereals with almond milk. Dairy is no good. Can cause bowels to hurt when and after a movement. Hope this might help you. Good Luck.

Hi the web is great for finding out information, and what works for some people does not always work for others, so you have to find food or drinks that help, as for me its prunes  one can of prunes and i am on the toilet all afternoon , great for clearing out the system, but if you do try this do not leave home redface

I don’t don’t think I can have prunes because I am insulin resistant and am only allowed a small amount of sugar but I have had a look and apparently flax seeds and chia seeds are good so I will try them next time I am bunged up. My tummy is much better now, I think maybe I have been a bit dehydrated because of the weather, I do drink a quite a bit of water but I am on blood thinners and they dehydrate you a bit which isn’t good for constipation! Thanks for the advice.

I tried prune juice when constipated and it eased the problem without making me go excessively.  If eating prunes causes excessuve stools, you do nor need to stay indoors.  Simply try things like rice or bananas which will firm you up.  You can also take Imodium.
