Raynauds Syndrome

I have suffered with Raynauds Syndrome since my early twentys.

I am constaantly in pain, especially my hands. I hate the cold weather as I have to wrap up, sometimes 2 coats which makes me look like an abominable snowman which is not a good look. When I come indoors I have to let my hands thaw out before I can even think of using them. Ihave lost count of the number of mugs I have dropped, I just lose all power in my hands. I am now having problems with my knees and feet, been to the doctors in the past they prescribed nifepedine an angina tablet to open the blood vessels, but these made me feel like I was having a heart attack. Recently my doctor wanted to prescribe Viagra but I refused I thought there may be bad side effects!! I am now on Amlodipine and am going to be reviewed next month.

Hi have raynauds as well very cold feet and legs. As a male I wear pantyhose all the time at it helps heaps. Prevention is the best. Was weird at first when I mentioned to the wife I want to wear pantyhose but she has been great. Live in Australia had a cold winter wear pantyhose almost 24hrs a day but keeps the feet and legs warm. Sleep is heaps better being warmer. Yes it really works it is a worry when I wear hosiery more then my wife but is all good smile . Hope this helps 36 male

[b:418bb68791]Hello, i have suffered with Raynaud's for around 6/7 years now, i have problems with my toes and 5 of my fingers (3 on one hand and 2 on the other) whenever i have been out i the cold i try my best to wear warm gloves but sometimes even they don't work. The toes on my feet sometimes get so bad i find it very painful to walk. I was just wondering if anyone knew if Raynauds can get worse as i get older? [/b:418bb68791]

Reynauds only developed later on in life. This winter (in UK) has not been too good - most cold days lead to an attack. However, I have found that avoiding caffiene (very difficult because coffee is a big pleasure) helps enormously. I allow myself one serious cup in the morning but no more. This really helps to limit the effects.

My Raynaud's got worse and worse. The worse thing is when people say, why don't you wear thicker gloves or whatever. I would have 4 attacks a day with a hour recovery time. I have the cure now. I hope you follow the tips I give in my post.
