RBC slightly elevated - cause for concern?

I just had my physical done, and my RBC count is ever so slightly above normal at 5.12 (normal range is 3.80-5.10). I am 32 years old and I had a baby 13 months ago and have had 2 periods since, one of them being exactly 2 weeks before my blood draw. It was the heaviest one I've ever had (hence, acts like giving blood, which I would think would result in a normal blood count). Curious to hear some thoughts on this? My dr doesn't seem concerned, but I pointed it out to him that I had just had my period, which would make me think that if we did the blood draw before my period, my RBC count would have been even higher. He agreed to have me do another test now that my period was a month or so ago, but I'm just curious to hear if there are similar experiences? Should I be concerned?

Nothing to be worried at this time..  The blood cell count is looked at as whole, not by single counts.  As long as the hemoglobin and hematocrit levels are within normal range, among a few others too, then it's nothing to worry about.   Being everything else is within normal range, it may just be your normal to have a slightly higher RBC than other people.  Everyone is different and no ranges for blood test are written in stone..  it's normal for people to have higher or lower range then the range given.
