i had hip replacement 4 months ago. am limping. badly. they are telling me tilted pelvis. Also no one wants to admit that there is a leg length discrepancy. Am going for second opinion this week. Am having pain in back and other leg too. i am in nyc. limp is bad and afraid will never go away. never had limp before surgery. my operated leg is longer. now other side is hurting from the limp.

keep in touch and let me know how you are doing

Hi,you need 2 give it a bit more time,it might settle down, get someone 2 measure your legs,my surgeon said,i was told b4 op leg length discrepancy some times cant b avoided,i honestly dont remember being told that,i saw him at 2yr check up and he said "thats you done with check ups, keep up the exercises" he was'nt interested in my not being happy with sore back etc.....good luck with the 2nd opinion, let me know how it goes

The leg discrepancy was on the form I signed to say OK to do the operation. There was something about they tried to make the discrepancy a certain amount max but they could not guarantee it. Did you check your form?

No i did'nt,i was just glad to be getting op,as i waited years for it!

Yes, you do need to wait. My leg seemed longer than the one I did not have the THR done, but my Femur was badly injured as well. After a while I learned to walk again and only have a very slight limp when I am tired. Otherwise, both lege are the same

When did you have op? Surgeon measured my legs and said,op leg was longer,it's only a couple of centimetres but it's enough to put your whole body out of synch!

Get a second opinion from a GOOD surgeon.

I have leg length discrepancy (shorter) after my revision. I have no back pain with it, but it was done by one of the top UK surgeons at the best UK hospital that specialises in 'messed up' hips & knees.

I was climbing a ladder on day 16 to clear ivy from rainwater gutters, walking confidently for 3-4 miles outside without sticks at 20 days, and discharged by the physio at 28 days. Now 11 weeks after the operation I have 'no restrictions' from my surgeon, back at the gym, and cautiously playing golf.

I'm glad your recovery was succesful, mine's however was not! I had 2 go to physio 3mnths after op,as i could'nt put my op leg out out flat, without agonising pain in my back, then had to go 2 orthotics for heel lift in shoe....I'm glad to be free of arthritic pain, but was'nt expecting back pain in it's place!

No, we don't expect to swap one pain for another pain do we. I hope you get sorted out and pain-free soon.
