Re infection

2 weeks ago my symptoms dissapeared, the relief was enourmous! but I knew I was storing the next generation of newly hatched, and the blighters are have been back in small numbers for the last 5 days.

I have been treating them with albenzadole I got off the internet, which is risky for me as I have kidney issues, and don't want to take them for longer than I have to.

The advice is to take them again after a 2 week break, but does that also mean a break from a limited diet? I was eating loads of shreddies with hemp milk, as there is no sugar in them, as I have carb cravings, but it is suggested on here I shouldn't be, as carbs turn into sugar, is that right?

Also, I'm confused about re infection, as the eggs need oxygen to hatch, hence the femail laying eggs on the bum etc, so how come they can hatch and multiply inside you?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried Combantrin? It's a lot easier on the kidneys and liver. Accordeing to the pharmacist's, they say to repeat in 14 days, however, when I looked into the life cycle of the little varmints, it only makes sense to take the 2nd dose in 10 days. Of course, the rest of the family needs to take them also...both times. Then comes the horrible cleaning regimen. Good luck. I'm ready to start my 2nd round in 2 days. This time, my family will take them also. I've also |closed off" the other 2 bathrooms to cut down on all the cleaning. Waht a pain in the butt...literally.

I think it is risky buying ANY drug off the Internet as they are not regulated and they may not even contain the active ingredient you need.  I have gone to my docs to try and get some albendazole but she wants to arrange a test first before she can prescribe it and she has to order this so I will have to wait a while.

I agree re getting things off the internet. It is quite risky. Combantrin, on the other hand, is prescribed by the Dr (although in Canada, it is an over-the-counter medicine so no prescription is needed; probably the same in the states), and recommended by pharmacist's. The only difference of opinion I have with the way the directions read (repeat in 14 days)...if we follow that regimen then the eggs will have hatched and have started the cycle all over again by laying new eggs (according to their life cycle). Since none of the medicine works on the eggs, a third dose would then be needed, then repeat, repeat, etc. I'm optimg for the 10 days (both my Dr and pharmacist say it won't hurt to wait only 10 days - I have also had some tests re my liver in the past that haven't come back so great-not the kidneys, I know, but they say it is still okay). So, tomorrow, the entire fam takes the first dose (showering everyday and changing the sheets everyday and vacuuming everyday and closing off bathrooms and rooms that I can; to cut down on the disinfection process/work). In 10 days we will all repeat the dose and continue with the disinfection regimen (which unfortunately involves cleaning the toilet a few times a day plus the tub as well...nylon bath buff puffs can go in the bleach wash...just not in the dryer). Good luck to you. Fingers crossed for all of us sufferers. This is horrible. It's like when my kids brought head lice home from school...only more gross. Take care.

    Hi Crystal and Kay,

Yes I agree with you both that internet medications are risky, I'm not going to take the albenzadole any more, however, out of desperation I have sent off to the U S for some Rheeses pinworm formula ( Pin x ) If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me, I don't know why it's banned here.

I read a lnk about attacking them from both ends, it was really interesting, it said that most treatments, medicinal or herbal don't work thoroughly enough because the worms hide in folds of the intestines, and the only way to reach them all is by flushing them out with a lot of water ( plus pin x ) as this fills out the intestines, and gives them nowhere to hide, and as pin x is pyrantel pamoate and just stuns them for a few hours, it's important to use a laxative also, and an enema to flush out those that have escaped to the lower intesting and rectal area, containing green black walnut and wormwood tincture, the link also suggests other things to get down you during the process, and it is a day long activity, and whilst I'm waiting for the pin x to turn up, I will try this with things I can get easilly in the UK, and include pummelling my intestines in various positions to try and reach all the areas inside me.

Since my first post, I have felt 'biting' and a little 'wriggling' again, heavy sigh! I looked up Combantrin, and I don't think it's available in the UK? Although I think it's basically Pyrantel pamoate stunning agent, but I will do a weekly flush till and after I get hold of pin X.

Please keep me posted on your progress ladies : )
