RE:Uncertain about results

Hello,

If anyone can help me to understand this I'd appreciate it. My son had a low MCV for months. It has gone up quite a bit but his eosiniphils have risen and his heamoglobin has dropped. He was supposed to have his ESR checked but it was cancelled. He had been dxed with Kawasaki a couple of years ago but did not recieve the treatment for it. I'm just trying to make some sense of all of this. The Dr's haven't explained it. Thank-you for your time.

I assume he is having a full blood count test which shows white and red blood cell information and if you are anaemic or not. Basically checking your well being.  If he is having ESR checked it may be worth having CRP checked too. They tend to show if you have inflammation anywhere.

Why is he having blood tests, what are his symptoms?

Thank-you for taking the time to answer.

For the past two and a half years he has had lowered red cells along with a decrease in his MCV. the GP thought (assumed) he was iron deficient but that's not the case. He has a variety of symptoms and the Specialist feels that it could be chronic inflammation due to untreated kawasaki or that it was misdiaganosed. He has lethargy, dizziness, redness in one eye, digestive issues and  goes a  through a lack of appetite. And now with the rise in the esonophils it seems more confusing. The ESR was cancelled?

Has your son been referred to a specialist? If so what sort? I do not understand the problem of doing an ESR blood test, I have one done every month or so. Did your GP do a blood check for his iron level? It does seem that they do not have a clue. What age is your son? You are entitled to have a printout of any blood tests done. I always ask for mine.

    Hello,

Thank-you so much for replying. Yes they did check his iron and it was fine. I did see the printout but haven't had it explained why ESR was cancelled. Not sure of the next step. My son is 8.

Perhaps they just thought that the ESR was not important.

    That's very possible.....

    Thank-you for your time.
