Well I had the MRI on Friday surely there must be a better way of diagnosing this ear condition than an MRI the noise was terrible in the machine bumping, banging, pinging, shaking of the head, I was glad to get out. needless to say my ear hadn't been too bad for the past week and I hadn't felt sick however after Fridays little episode I am now back on the medication feeling generally unwell as well as feeling sick and a little dizzy. just got to wait now to see the consultant at the end of March .

Hi Wendy. At last someone who felt ill after tests! Sorry, but I had 6 hours of ENT on 28th Feb & also a steroid ear injection. Since my experience in the balance chamber, which bought on a bad dizzy spell & the injection, also bad dizzy spell. Since then I've felt more unstable. Not sure whether its set off the symptons again or reaction to injection. I go for my mri on weds, followed by ent to check if injection as worked. I'm really starting to think this condition is stress related. Although my tests show moderate hearing loss in my right ear & balance issues, but I was so freaked out in the balance chamber ( i dont like closed in spaces) i'm just not sure how the know what dizziness is bought on by the inner ear or panic, if that makes sense. This is by far the most stressful 9 weeks I've ever experienced. I hope all goes ok for x

Hi Wendy  MRI is the latest scanning technology, the other option would be a CT scan.  The MRI is to eliminate any other physical cause for vertigo, such as an acoustic neuroma, a tumour.  When i had mine done i was given some headphones to wear.  Hope all goes well for your recovery.

I would be too scared to have a mri I would panic something fierce! The scan may be the way to go for me. I have only had this condition for two weeks. I bought a Rollator to get around including inside my house.

      Hi Kathleen

The MRI is fine. Its not closed in, its open at both ends. When you look up you can see out. You cant see your feet but the head end is OK. It does make a bit of noise but I found it very relaxing. Dont know about the balance room mentioned earlier, never seen one of those and Im claustraphobic too. Dont fancy that much. I dont know if thats just a US thing. I have found that the more stressed I get over it, the worse it gets but I know it never used to be there.
